The Commission on Narcotic Drugs was created by ECOSOC to assist the Committee in implementing drug control policy. At FWPMUN, the CND will be debating a resolution it passed regarding Alternative Development in 2017. We will act as though the resolution is still a working paper and each delegate will make amendments to the paper in accordance with their country’s views. The United States Senate is compromised a group of elected officials, called senators, that decide the laws of a country. There are two senators per state in the United States, and along with the United States House of Representatives, 100 members of the Senate (two from each state) vote on which laws the United States should enact at the federal level. In the majority of cases, both aforementioned groups must agree on a suggested law, and it must be signed by the president before it is instituted. In this committee, delegates will be posing as real members of the US Senate, and attempting to pass bills through the Senate body that address the issues of Voter ID laws and Net Neutrality. The World Health Organization (WHO) is a longstanding institution, with a history of powerful, influential work. At FWPMUN, delegates will be representing nations on the WHO in the year 1952, soon after its founding, and will work to combat two of the most dangerous epidemics in modern history, polio and tuberculosis. Delegates must keep in mind that because this is a historical committee, they should keep the specific time frame in mind when researching, but should not feel compelled to follow the actions of those who preceded them when creating resolutions.
